Today I had the pleasure to go to the local ciné club to watch Argo, ” A dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran. “
For two hours I was gripping my chair as the suspense is absolutely thrilling. Ben Affleck’s efforts at directing are to be highly applauded as it is for me one of my best moments at a cinema in a long time.
Based on a true story, cf Canadian Caper, Argo is absolutely gripping and you won’t see the two hours go by as you just keep on wondering how – and even if – the six American citizens will escape revolutionary Iran alive.
For people delving into security and defense issues such as my friend Olivier will have a good time studying international cooperation between Canada and the United States.
In this movie we got great actors – who aren’t entirely dissimilar to the actual people they are portraying as the end credits show – great story, and pretty good dialogs with a few notes of humor to alleviate the suspense.
My grade : 9/10. A must !
