My funny Valentine, by Miles Davis + Bonus

my funny valentine miles davisFebruary 14th, aka Valentine’s day :  either you are with a loved one and are celebrating, either you are on your own and hate it. ( Granted, you might not care at all in both cases ).

In any case, it’s the occasion to listen to some great Jazz with Miles Davis’ interpretation of My Funny Valentine, a famous standard of the genre.

Indeed, this tune is to Wikipedia :

(…) A show tune from the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical Babes in Arms in which it was introduced by former child star Mitzi Green. After being recorded by Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, and Miles Davis, the song became a popular jazz standard, appearing on over 1300 albums performed by over 600 artists.

Without further ado, Miles’ interpreation :

I hope you liked it as much as I do. 🙂

edit for Bonus.

Here is another jazz tune that got a lot of versions : Someday my Prince will come ( for me it would be a Princess, thank you very much ^^)
