Joe Romm is the editor of Climate Progress, an absolutely fantastic blog on climate and energy related issues from the Center for American Progress Action Fund. He is also the author of a new book : Language Intelligence.
Having enjoyed my rhetorics classes at the Dublin Institute of Technology during my Bachelor of Arts – back to 2004/5 – I had to buy Language Intelligence.
This book is strongly recommended to anyone as all of us can learn how to be more persuasive in the way we write or talk. The book is quite simple as it handles all the major tools by dedicating it a whole chapter.
Here are they ;
The book is ripe with references to US politics and use some of the best speeches in History.
Other references include Churchill, who wrote a book on rhetorics at the age of 22, as well as many many references to William Shakespeare and the many plays he wrote.
To conclude : If you are willing to be more convincing whether you just talk or write for your job, you need to read Language Intelligence. Read it, read it, read it !
