Evolve or remain, Creig Crippen

Another week, another quote I heard in my yoga classes.

You are being presented with a choice: evolve or remain. If you choose to remain unchanged, you will be presented with the same challenges, the same routine, the same storms, the same situations, until you learn from them, until you love yourself enough to say “no more”, until you choose change.

If you choose to evolve, you will connect with the strength within you, you will explore what lies outside the comfort zone, you will awaken to love, you will become, you will be. You have everything you need.

Choose to evolve. Choose love.

Which makes me think that in English you can’t write EVOLve without LOVE.

So changing your life starts with loving yourself. Appreciating yourself, your own resilience, your own strengths. Acknowledging your victories, and also your defeats. And how you can learn from them, how you can make sure you won’t fall again for that.

Once you can love your own self, you can go out to this big world of ours, and love others. In a world where Asocial media is the norm and where people litterally prefer to play with their phones instead of talking to one another, this is hard. I will come back one day to loneliness.

So, sure, the world is a scary, dark place. I committed my life to combatting climate change, the ultimate injustice of our current day and age. So, yes I know how things are scary nowadays.

But there is also LOVE, bountiful, beautiful LOVE.

If I am on a journey to change the world I am also changing myself. Many things that I thought impossible a couple of years ago are now my reality. This ties back perfectly to one of my favorite quotes, this time by the late Bruce Lee:

So, what are your current goals ? What are the main hurdles ? How can you overcome them ? Thinking strategically about them is a good thing. Don’t be afraid to dream big. It is by dreaming of the stars that you go to the Moon.
